Surrender
May 02, 2023 by Kathy Vintson
Let me be honest. I have a difficult time with surrender. I want to be in control. I want to fix everything. And I want to do it as quickly as possible.
I love God with all that is in me. I want to surrender everything to Him. But in the past, I would give something to Him, and when He didn’t fix it as quickly as I wanted, or in the way I wanted, I would take it back.
Maybe you can relate.
But here is what I realized. It is not about surrendering something to God, it is about surrendering everything to God. It is about giving your life, your will, your hopes, your dreams, your trials, your tribulations, your fears, your anxieties, your highs, and your lows, all to Him.
Why? Because He gave it all to you.
Because Jesus gave His life, taken brutally, for you to have the opportunity to surrender. To be saved and forgiven. To be in a relationship with Him. To know He stands behind you and goes before you. To know He is in control. And, when you give up that control, you can be at peace, knowing He is working. You can spend your time praising, honoring, and worshipping Him. You can do His will.
No, you don’t surrender for what He can do for you. You surrender because of what He has already done.
Love and hugs,
Kathy
